Special Update -- WE WON!!!!  And we won big!

March 8, 2008, CHATTANOOGA -- Charleston Stage Company's production of The Exonerated won the SETC Community Theatre Festival.  Susan Marrash-Minnerly won the award for Best Director.  Cast members John Halstead, Joe Miller, and Will Taylor were honored for Excellence in Acting. The entire cast was honored separately with an award for their work as an Outstanding Ensemble.  The judges, nationally recognized theatre professionals, in the post-performance review, complimented every aspect of the performance.  Huge thanks are due to the many contributors who helped make the trip to Chattanooga possible.

The Play

The Exonerated, by Jessica Blank and Erik Jensen, tells the real stories of five wrongfully convicted men and one woman imprisoned on death row, some for decades, before being exonerated and freed. The actors' words come from letters, court transcripts, interviews and other materials. The play leaves audiences sensitive to how mistakes and misconduct within the justice system can devastate lives.
